OBJECTIVES

Even if the overarching goal of the Research Library it is to promote and preserve historical value and knowledge throughout Nepal. The primary objectives of the Research Libraries are as follow.

  • Preserve books and manuscripts that are historical and not readily available online or offline.
  • Develop awareness, promote intellectual development and show the value of research library in innovations to local communities through interactive awareness programs in local level.
  • To promote a culture of learning and knowledge sharing by providing appropriate resources and services.
  • Share work, collections, and knowledge across the institution and beyond.
  • Provide a hub for latest knowledge to scholars and researchers in their fields.
  • Awareness and Advocacy – To create opportunities to collaborate, inform, and support Library stakeholders.
  • Provide information to academic community in support to research and instructional programs.
  • Collect and compile research resources from diverse and historical multicultural academic resources.
  • Become the progenitors of a unique service housing rare collection of books for readers in Nepal and worldwide.
  • Empower librarians, researchers, scholars, architects, lawyers, biologists, engineers, and so on by facilitating a plethora of reading materials online.
  • Host civic discussions on relevant topics to engage locals of all ages.
  • Host tours in and around sites abundant in cultural artifacts for hands on participation of youths in lieu of awareness of their native heritages.
  • Supplement the curriculum of respective instituitions of respective readers.
  • Give researchers wider and deeper understanding of the universe of knowledge
  • Work as a life-long advocate of learning beyond the prescribed syllabi for enlightenment and information.
  • Make available to the students, books and allied reading material relevant to the courses offered in the college.
  • Make available the books and documents required by faculty members of different institutions in preparation of their instructional courses.
  • Provide comprehensive selection of authoritative books and documents needed by scholars.
  • Conservation and preservation of knowledge;
  • Expansion of ideas and dissemination of knowledge with the help of interpretation, research and publication;
  • Dissemination of knowledge through teaching and extension services.
  • Create a culture of reading and research among Nepali citizens.
  • Preserve indegenous knowledge through publication of such content readily available online.
