Aside from world’s highest mountains including Mount Everest, Nepal’s strength comes from its wealth of stories, experiences and its cultural heritage that should be celebrated. Nepal’s constitution has established certain unalienable fundamental rights, including the right to education; and books enrich our lives in no other way. They are microcosms of the human experience, opening our minds to the rich tapestry of this world. We, at Research Library, espouse this principle at the core and lend an opportunity for all curious readers, scholars and researchers to tap into the magical world of knowledge and information all under one roof.
The Research Library of Chitwan was established in 2021 to serve the interest of international scholars, researchers and local communities of Chitwan and to anybody who values the power of knowledge and research. It is a reservoir, preserving the distilled knowledge of our predecessors who have played a pivotal role in shaping civilization itself.
In the midst of this unprecedented technological revolution and digitization, the primary goal of this Research Library is to preserve, protect, collect and compile precious books and manuscripts that hold within them an entire history, which has been lost in oblivion in today’s tech dominated world.
Despite the fact that technology has largely impacted our lives and changed the means and ways of learning, the value of traditional way of learning should not go undervalued and discounted. This Research Library serves as a gateway to the rich array of historical books and manuscripts that may not be available everywhere in the world. Thus, this library is a rare archive that houses the selected books that are handpicked from diverse culture, religions and ethnic groups within Nepal. These books and their history traverses a trajectory of ancient era, medieval times and the present so that our researchers and readers may gain an insight into our glorious past and trace the milestone developments in the history of Nepal.
We are so thankful to all individuals, scholars and community leaders from Chitwan and Nepal who have wholeheartedly supported our effort to preserve the valuable books and manuscripts. In this effort, we anticipate your support so that we can grow and encourage younger generations to value the power of knowledge and learnings.
